We are one of the UK's longest-established specialist providers of legal education. Our origins can be traced back to 1876 with the formation of the leading tutorial firm Gibson & Weldon, and later on, with the establishment of The Law Society School of Law. In 1962 the two were amalgamated to establish The College of Law, and in 2012 we were granted our full university title. In 2016 we launched our Business School which has since seen expansion across our campuses and partnerships with leading international institutions such as GISMA Business School in Berlin.

We made history in 2006 by becoming the first independent institution to be granted degree awarding powers by the Privy Council, leading to the development of our professionally-focused Bachelor and Master of Laws degree programmes.

In 2018, we announced our new Hong Kong campus which allows our students to learn in the heart of a leading international commerce and finance hub. Our first classes in Hong Kong took place in September 2019.

We’re now at the heart of education as an acknowledged leader in innovative, professional legal and business teaching for prospective lawyers and business professionals, both in the UK and worldwide.

Manchester Campus:
Our Manchester campus, which hosts both our legal and business courses, is located in the heart of the city, close to leading law firms and Manchester Piccadilly Train Station. The Metrolink, which connects the whole of Manchester and surrounding areas, is just a 2 minute walk from campus. The city has a thriving nightlife with plenty of bars, theatre and live music venues to choose from. Perfect for student life, Manchester is rich in art, fashion and heritage, and is as proud of its music scene as it is of its football teams. It has a thriving and diverse economy including business, legal and professional services.
