Who Can Still Take Pencil and Paper SAT Exam?

Even though the SAT is entirely transformed into a digital version, there are some exceptions that allow students to take the paper-based SAT. These exceptions are applicable to special students, not the general public. The special students are the ones who have some kind of disability, due to which they can’t take the digital SAT. They can request the paper-and-pencil version of the SAT. The eligible disabilities are:

1. Visual impairments

2. Learning disabilities like dyslexia

3. Physical disabilities

4. Any other disability, preventing taking the exam on a computer

SAT Exam Eligibility Criteria for General Students 2025

The College Board sets no specific eligibility requirements for the SAT exam. However, the following pointers need to be kept in mind while taking the test:

1. Age: There is no specific age to take the SAT exam. It is mostly taken by students between the ages of 16 and 19. Students aged 13 or above can directly register for the exam, while students below the age of 13 must have parental or guardian consent before registering for the exam.
